My Dream Bike for the City

Riding in style(Credit: David Niddrie)

When I started working at Momentum Magazine in October 2007 I was perfectly content riding my regular ol' commuter hybrid bike around the city.  A bike is a bike is a bike, right?

Not anymore!  Over the past year and a half I have seen so many different types of bikes on the street, at trade shows, in our magazine, in other magazines and so on that each day I became more and more un-satisfied with my current ride.  I started dreaming about what my perfect city bike would be.... a stylish mixte frame (I love wearing dresses!), internal gears, a basket and a comfortable saddle.  I had already fallen in love with disc brakes (which come in very handy for wet west coast climates) and knew that my perfect bike would have these too.

After a year and a half of searching, I found her!  Thanks to one of my favorite industry friends whom I met at Interbike, Brian Fornes, Marketing Coordinator at Raleigh, I was gifted with a beautiful new Raleigh Superbe Roadster.  It is indeed my perfect dream bike for the city, as it came fully equipped with everything I had hoped for, and more!  My favorite features of my new bike include the steel cream-coloured mixte frame, the Brooks saddle and grips, the upright city-style handlebars, the internal Shimano 8-speed hub, the dynamo hub on the front wheel (I wish it had come with a dynamo light too!), the beautiful faux wood slick fenders, the disc brakes and my personal addition, a Paul Components flatbed.

And of course, city riding and commuting would not work without my Nutcase helmet, Rickshaw Commuter bag, and my Abus lock.  I've used other locks in the past, but these Abus locks are a cut above the rest.

Thanks so much Brian and Raleigh for making a city girl's dream come true.

Looks good.

That bike sure looks the part. I love the almost retro-style handlebars. I know a couple of people who might be interested in one of these bikes, so I've sent them the link. casino en ligne

FREE?!?!?

I just dropped 11 bills for that bike. Well worth it, but I surely would have accepted it for free. Maybe I wouldn't go around bragging about it though... :)
