Batavus City Bicycle Spotted in Gastown - I am in love

I spotted a Dutch Batavus city bicycle in Gastown today and fell in love (and took some photos). Just a short blog post to say that!
I have no shares in the company nor can I currently afford such a bicycle (they are over $800) but after seeing it in Gastown (and lots of bikes like it in Belgium and Holland recently) it just makes sense for city riding (fenders, wheel "O"-lock, hub dynamo lights, skirt guard, chain guard, internal hub gears, bell, and a host of other city riding friendly features)! What's your favourite city bike?

These are truly splendid
These are truly splendid bikes. Amazingly reliable, they are designed to last for 20 years sitting out on the street with next to no maintenance.
My favourite city bike is just like this. Mind you, what I actually ride is something a bit more tatty.
You might be interested in a video of a visit to a factory where bikes like this were being made.
