Driver sues dead cyclists family for car damages
Submitted: January 26, 2008
A driver who killed a teenage cyclist is suing the boy's parents over damage to his Audi A8. Tomas Delgado hit and killed 17 year old Enaitz Iriondo in August 2004. Delgado was driving 160km/h in a 90 km/h zone in northern Spain and didn't see Iriondo in low light conditions. The court found both parties at fault.
Delgado, whose insurance company paid Iriondo's parents $48,500 in compensation for their son's life, filed a suit in late 2006 to recover $29,400 in damages to his car and car rental costs.

My newspaper tells me today that "after a public outcry" this lawsuit has now been dropped.
