Pemberton's "Ciclovia": 2100+ cyclists create a Slow Food bike ride

Slow Food Cycle Sunday is a grassroots, annual event organized by the community of Pemberton, B.C., (north of Whistler). Their web site reports that while 2100 cyclists registered, many more joined in informally.Says their web site (see link):

"Sea to Sky's signature agritourism event, Slow Food Cycle Sunday Pemberton blows the fast-food drive-through away. A pedal-powered trip through the natural buffet that is Pemberton Meadows farmland, to meet local growers and sample produce fresh from the field, Slow Food Cycle is: • Good for your carbon credits • Flat and scenic and ride-able for all ages and levels of fitness • A sensory smorgasboard"The World Watch Institute reports that the average food item eaten in North America has traveled 2500-4000 km from farm table. The distance between good food and your table is as short as a 26km bike ride.Four of us carpooled in an Co-operative Auto Network car and joined the ride. If you're interested in this event, I d created a photo album as well as a short from-the-saddle video clip.PHOTO ALBUM: http://flickr.com/photos/miteymiss/sets/72157606816995373/VIDEO CLIP: http://www.flickr.com/photos/miteymiss/2775982736/in/set-72157606816995373/
