Toronto Transit Strike a blessing in disguise for local Bike Stores
Submitted: May 01, 2008
It seems there's nothing like the threat of a Transit Strike to get people on bikes. That's how I got started in 2001.
Curbside Cycle in Toronto reports that they broke all previous sales records, thanks to shoppers motivated by a possible Toronto Transit strike. On Sunday, they broke that record.
The Community Bicycle Network has also sold more bikes than anticipated for the month of April.
I guess that means a lot more people have bikes to participate in Bike Month beginning May 28th!

Toronto is going bike crazy!
Even the Globe and Mail ran a prominent article on the new swell of riders in the Big Smoke. Good news for all! Except those with a flat tire, I suppose...
