I don't look like a cyclist!

I received the best compliment the other day since I became a cyclist. (3 years and still going).
I was enjoying the festivities at Bike to Work Week in Vancouver, and someone came up to me and asked if I rode a bike.
I was ecstatic. I have been trying for years to not look like a cyclist, and now, thanks to forward thinking innovative fashion designers that ride bikes, I don't. I hope this is just the beginning.

Here is a photo of me (taken by my favorite photographer, David Niddrie) wearing my new waxed cotton raincoat made by Nan Eastep of B Spoke Tailor. Special features of this stylish bike-able raincoat include a zipper that zips from both ends (so I can open the coat and better cover my legs while riding), a hood that fits comfortably and maneuvers well underneath my helmet, and extra material at the back so that I can stretch my arms to reach my handlebars with ease. And of course, it's waterproof.

The overall impression from this year's Interbike industry trade show is that the bike biz is swinging slowly but surely in a direction that serves utility cyclists, transportation cyclists, commuters.
